Southern California Members attend Boomtown Reno, Nevada   Many of the Southern California Chapter Members attended the S.D.C Zone Meet held at The Boomtown Casino, just west of Reno, Nevada. The host Chapter from the area put on a gas economy tour on Friday that went from the casino up and around Lake Tahoe and back. Ken Porteous had the oldest car on the tour and was bound and determined to make it with his 1926 Duplex Roadster. After a few stops to clean the spark plugs and adjust the carburetor he made it! Ken also averaged almost 11 miles per gallon. The pre-war winner was a 1942 Champion averaging almost 22 mpg. Not to bad for the 140 mile trip and climbing up to over 9,000 feet. The rest of the Meet was great with the judging held on Saturday morning. The weather was a little cruel but the rains stopped about noon.
